Since arriving in Japan over a year and a half ago, I have been overwhelmingly impressed by the Japanese festival spirit. I have been to many countries in many parts of the world and have never seen such complete willingness and acceptance to beautifully blend traditional arts with modern skills in celebration. I believe I am truly lucky to have been able to be a part of the Rose Festival's Bingo Barabara Yosakoi Odoritai. The festival was fantastic and Fukuyama's roses are truly beautiful but even more beautiful than the roses are the people of Fukuyama who so readily encouraged and helped me participate in the team.
